MEDICAL ASSISTANT / CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST
Medical Assistant with
Cardiovascular Technology graduates have an excellent future with
increasing opportunities, job stability, and security. They are
cross-trained, technical specialists who are multi-skilled and
diversified. At Central Florida Institute, we concentrate on hands-on
training that prepares the graduates of this program to meet the needs
of many different healthcare facilities. This program puts an emphasis
on the skill and knowledge necessary to enter the cardiovascular field.
The CFI Medical Assistant is poised to move up in the medical/cardiac
field to management positions.
Program Objective:
Prepare students with applicable theory, administrative applications,
and clinical skills for successful employment in the cardiovascular
field of medicine. To equip students with the necessary skills and
knowledge to serve as a member of the cardiovascular team with the
ability to independently perform non-invasive procedures within the
appropriate scope of practice. |

Program Description: The program includes theory and externship experience
to enter the medical and /or cardiac fields. The externship experience provides
the student with practical applications of medical ethics, terminology, anatomy
& physiology, human relations, and administrative and business skills for
medical facilities. Clinical skills include phlebotomy, pharmacology, minor
surgeries, ECG, monitor recognition, stress testing, ambulatory monitor setup
and scanning, and cardiac pharmacology. An introduction to cardiac pacing,
vascular studies and echocardiography are included.
Career Opportunities: Graduates are employable in entry-level positions
in all areas that provide health care.
